On the occasion of the 23rd Annual Mix Brasil Festival – in partnership – Lanchonete.org and Musagetes bring a program of activities focused on the relationship between queerness and life in the contemporary city.

The program is in four parts: a film screening, a panel, a walk in the city center, and an open discussion.

It serves to launch a six-month inquiry on queerness and life in the contemporary city – something relatable to the idea of French philosopher and sociologist Henri Lefebvre of a Right to the City – that will engage local (and international) artists, activists, urban planners, architects, researchers, thinkers, and simply people with whom we share the city.

The walk in the Center of São Paulo has the main goal of recaptur- ing the LGBT+ history in the area through sharing personal experiences. It is by using the real lives of local residents that it becomes possible to realize and define the LGBT+ cultural references that are in the process of being forgotten due to the increasing interest of the real estate market in the region. The actor Paulo Goya will lead the walk and share his experiences indicating the places he visited in the past and showing the intrinsic relation between the Center of the city and the LGBT+ history. The São Paulo Network of Heritage Education (Repep) will explain the new methodology to protect a territory from the real estate speculation through immaterial culture.
